Consolation Prize

$60.00

Around 5 pm the 2nd evening I was at Cannon Beach, Oregon, I had to succumb to a nap after walking and climbing from one end of the beach to the other for 2 days and pretty much not sleeping at night. My plan was to sleep a little then catch the sunset from the north side of Haystack Rock. But while I was sleeping the fog rolled in. I decided to go anyway because you never know when the fog will lift there and spectacular things can happen at that time of day. On my way back to my car, these 3 “teenagers” came right down the very trail I needed to go up to get to my car, like they were looking for something fun to do on a Friday night. They walked right by me…maybe 50 ft from me, play-sparring a little as they walked. I kept backing up to give them room. I didn’t get my sunset…but I got this.
